Some grocery stores will sell dry ice to the public for approximately $1.50 per pound. Dry ice is typically sold as flat, square slabs a few inches thick, or as cylinders that are about three inches long and about a half an inch thick. Either size will work fine for your dry ice experiments. All it takes is a handful of home supplies like syrup, water, and vegetable oil and a captivated audience.

Did you know that tonic water will glow under a blacklight? The quinine in the tonic water glows a very cool looking blue color that we really like. If you’re not crazy about the taste of tonic water, try making ice cubes using the tonic water and then add them to a glass of Sprite or another light colored citrus drink. Switch on the blacklight and you have the perfect Halloween beverage.
Kids will love making their own puking pumpkin for Halloween with a few simple household ingredients. These pumpkin lava lamps make a great alternative to carving a pumpkin. The best thing is you can use them over and over again! Just add an effervescent vitamin tablet or alka seltzer when you want them to erupt. This would be great to give out in small tubs as an alternative to candy. Try making some bubbly witchy drinks while investigating which make the best bubbles.
